India In View-II
MYSORE DEMYSTIFIED I visted the city of "Mysore" (Pronounce: My-Sore)situated in Southern part of India. Mysore is a city which traces the history back to 1000 BC.
The city derrives its current name from the devel king name "Mahisasur" (Pronounced as : Mahi-Sa-Sur). He was one of the earlier rulers of the city.
As per some hindu Epic, this king has a blessing that no "Man" or "God" can kill him. When his attrocities raised, the people worshipped for
Goddess "Shakti" (Meaning: power), who killed him.
Anyway, this is a story taken from some epic.
History shows that this city was a part of various Kingdoms, like Hoysala, Chalukyas and Vijayanagar. Later on this became a part of Hyder Ali and Tipu's empire.
After Tipu's Demise, this city was a part of British Empire.
Today, this city has a population of 1.1 Million and is called as "retire person's paradise".
[However, I didn't found it Comfortable for retired people ;)]
