India In View-I

India has a culture heritage of around 3000 years and contains a number of places where civilizations have existed from time to time. Archeology and History study are one
of my hobbies. From time to time I use to take a time out and go for excursion to these sites.

Recently I thought of having my adventures shared via this website. The current page is a step in this direction.

Hampi DeMystified

"Hampi" the financial capital of the Vijaynagar Empire (1400-1600AD) is situated in the heart of Karnataka, near the current Bellary district. The empire was on its peak during the rule of Krishna Dev Raya-II with ministers like Tanali Rama in his ministry. This page contains the details of the temples of Hampi, now declared as a World heritage centre as well.

The temples of Hampi shows the form of Indian civil Engineering existing at that time. The entires temples were made of stones (mostly in one piece). The buldings contains the stone pillers through which one can makeout the tunes of various instruments like sitar, drum-set, etc.

The entire city was as per vaastu. So the tunes that was played can be heard even upto 4KM in radius.

The economy of those days were basically agarian based. The agricultural produces were sold in terms of the gold and those golds were placed inside the temples or decorated on the idols as ornaments inside the temples. More the gold, more was the prosperity.
The empire lost its glory after 1600 AD. Most of the empire was ruined by the invasions of the Bhamani and Mughal empires.
Still the archeology of this place depicts the best of the Indian engineering at those times.

This place also have an illustration in the Ramayana (an epic of hindu philosophy). This place was called as "Khiskindha" (of Hanuman and Sugriva fame).
